A small ferrite cored transformer. For applications requiring a high voltage pulse, typically to start ionization of a gas to allow a current to pass. Commonly used to light strobe lamps, arc lamps, gas laser tubes and some fluorescent lamps.
Caution:
Do not exceed the minimum bend radius (30mm.)
