Disk Drive Power Connector
Used to carry voltages from the power supply unit to the disk drive board
An attempt was made by a group of ESDI (extended data interface) committee to standardize the power connector in the drive industries. As there was no standard as yet, Molex came up with a variation of power connectors falling under our 8981 series to accommodate the need of our valuable customers. We have the vertical, right-angled through-hole and surface mounted versions. Molex offers the 8981 in varying wall thickness, profile heights and slot orientations. The pins come in either the standard (2.13mm) .084" or (2.096mm) .0825" diameter.
